The Rug & Carpet Studio is a leading UK centre of excellence in the restoration, cleaning and conservation of handmade Oriental rugs and carpets, French Aubusson and Axminster carpets.

We have an international client base, including historic properties, museums and private owners. Our experienced conservator-restorers offer broad ranging treatment options for functional rugs and those on display, including robust repairs, support treatment and preventive advice.

The restoration and conservation are carried out by hand at our studio in Long Melford. The studio is equipped with specialist facilities and security systems, with over 85 square metres of space to facilitate repairs and cleaning of over-sized carpets. We can provide on-site assessments and arrange for handling and transportation where required.

We offer extensive cleaning from dust extraction and surface wet cleaning of functional rugs and carpets, through to intricate surface cleaning of fragile textiles. Stain removal and mould treatment are available, along with specialist full immersion cleaning for smoke, fire and flood damage. Moth treatments are also available to remove moth and carpet beetle infestations, along with guidance on monitoring systems and prevention.

Documentation includes survey assessments, condition and treatment reports, preventive and aftercare advice.
