Growth innovation and awards over the past 5 years

In June 2010 Crossroad Health and Safety Systems; based in Charfield celebrate their 5 year anniversary. During the past five years they have grown into a truly national company with more than 40 employees and associates, and the company maintains an award-winning culture which focuses on innovation and practical solutions to the challenges which safety brings, although working in a very serious sector a fun work environment is key to success and effective communication.

In the company's early days, all of Crossroad H&S employees could fit into one room to hear directly from the Managing Director, Laurence Davis. This created a ‘do what is right because it’s the right thing to do’ philosophy which remains deeply woven into the company's culture of, maintaining open communication and sharing in the team's success. Crossroad H&S have recently won an award from the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) and the company enjoys almost 100% repeat business. Innovation has also been at the forefront of the Crossroad success story with the introduction last year of their Electronic Health and Safety Management System, which has been rolled out up and down the country. This software based system replaces the old style hard copy health and safety manual and makes it easier for clients to access documents, store risk assessments and when needed send them electronically via e-mail. A dedication to developing both services and product has led to Crossroads enviable position of being one of the best providers of health and safety training in the UK and they have received accreditation to provide training from IOSH, CITB, and RIBA. Although Crossroad Safety has grown to national status with clients who include Lloyds Banking Group, Persimmon Homes, Styles and Wood and The Lend Lease group; to name but a few, their core business is still looking after the small to medium sized companies.

Laurence Davis says, "As much as I am proud of the team and the achievements we have made in the last 5 years and how far we have come; I firmly believe that there is still much that can be done to reduce occupational accidents and disease in the UK. This business was built by looking after the needs of small and medium companies and keeping repeat business, this meant developing a culture of care and support that puts the customers first. I know that sound like a cliché, but it has worked for us and now we provide the same exacting standards to our large clients. 2010 is a year for us to celebrate but it has been hard work and I don’t expect the economy to improve significantly until at least the end of 2011. I also recognise that our history is the strongest criterion customers have to judge our future. This means my teams’ approach of putting the customer first, helps more customers improve their health and safety standards which results in fewer accidents”.
